Notes

Keep butter cold and work quickly to maintain flaky texture., Dough can be sticky; add flour gradually up to 4 cups if needed to handle dough easily., Chop strawberries into small pieces to distribute evenly and prevent wet pockets., Scones are best served slightly warm but can be stored airtight at room temperature, refrigerated, or frozen for up to 3 months., Variations include using other berries, different milk types, sugar topping substitutions (turbinado or powdered sugar), or adding a vanilla glaze after cooling.
