A comforting and balanced meal featuring seasoned ground turkey served over rich, buttery garlic-infused rice. Quick to make, hearty but light, perfect for busy weeknights, meal prep, and family dinners.

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced (for turkey)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth or water
  • Fresh parsley or green onions, chopped (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups water or chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced (for rice)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs mostly clear to remove extra starch.
  2. Combine rinsed rice, 2 cups water or chicken broth, and 1/4 teaspoon salt in a medium saucepan and bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  3. Lower heat to a simmer, cover tightly, and cook rice for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
  4. Turn off heat and keep the pot covered for 5 minutes to steam.
  5. Melt 2 tablespoons unsalted butter in a small pan over low heat.
  6. Add 3 cloves minced garlic to the butter and cook 30–60 seconds until fragrant but not browned.
  7. Pour the garlic butter over the cooked rice, add 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, and fluff gently with a fork; cover to keep warm.
  8. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  9. Add the diced onion and cook 3–4 minutes until softened and translucent.
  10. Add 3 cloves minced garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
  11. Add ground turkey, break it up with a spatula, and cook 6–8 minutes until no pink remains.
  12. Sprinkle paprika, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper over the turkey and stir to coat.
  13. Add soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce and chicken broth or water, lower heat slightly, and simmer 4–5 minutes to combine flavors.
  14. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
